Søren Ravn Christensen gründete Vita Copenhagen (später Umage) im Jahr 2008, nachdem er zufällig eine Lampe seines Vaters in einem Vintage-Laden entdeckt hatte. Von da an war es sein Ziel, zeitlose Designs zu schaffen, die ewig halten – etwas, das Umage mit Designs, die neue Maßstäbe setzen, gemeistert hat.
Berühmt wurde das Unternehmen im Jahr 2010 mit der Pendelleuchte Silvia, die einem riesigen Tannenzapfen ähnelt. Im Jahr 2012 brachte Umage die Eos-Leuchten aus echten Federn auf den Markt. Heute ist die Eos-Kollektion ein Designklassiker und eines der bekanntesten Produkte von Umage.
Im Jahr 2018 schlug die Marke ein neues Kapitel auf, als sie den Namen offiziell von Vita Copenhagen in Umage änderte. Seit diesem Jahr bietet die Marke neben Beleuchtungsprodukten auch Möbel und Wohnaccessoires an.
Die Natur schafft ein Gefühl der Leichtigkeit, ein Gefühl der Ruhe und bietet göttliche Farbpaletten, Formen und Muster. Umage fühlt sich in der Verantwortung, Vorreiter zu sein, indem es einen Standard dafür setzt, wie Möbel- und Designunternehmen dieses Thema angehen, indem es:
- Zusammenarbeit mit NGOs – Umage hat mit Organisationen wie One Tree Planted zusammengearbeitet, sodass jedes Mal, wenn eines ihrer Designs aus Holz verkauft wird, ein Baum gepflanzt wird.
- Langlebige Qualitätsmaterialien – Durch die Auswahl der hochwertigsten Materialien stellt Umage sicher, dass ihre Designs ein Leben lang halten.
- Austauschbare Elemente –Umage hat bei der Entwicklung seiner Produkte auf Austauschbarkeit geachtet. Wenn Sie also zum Beispiel später das Leder Ihrer Esszimmerstühle durch Velours ersetzen möchten, können Sie das tun das ohne in ein paar Minuten. Das bedeutet, dass Sie dem Design und Ihrer Inneneinrichtung neues Leben einhauchen können, ohne ein völlig neues Möbelstück kaufen zu müssen, und so die Ressourcen der Welt schonen.
- Verantwortungsvolle Materialien – Durch die Verwendung von 100 % recycelten Textilien, Leder mit Nordic Swan Ecolabel-Zertifizierung und Gänsefedern mit RDS-Lizenz können Sie sicher sein, dass Ihr Umage-Produkt unter Berücksichtigung der Umwelt hergestellt wird
- Flach verpackte Verpackung – Um den Verpackungsmüll zu minimieren, hat Umage ein neues Verpackungskonzept entwickelt, das sicherstellt, dass alle Artikel so kompakt wie möglich verpackt sind. Sie sorgen auch dafür, dass die Umnutzung der Verpackung in schöne Aufbewahrungsboxen einfach und unkompliziert ist.
- Recycling – Alle Designs können für das Recycling in Schlüsselelemente zerlegt werden und verschlissene Teile können ersetzt werden, um die Lebensdauer der Designs zu verlängern.
Die Marke erkennt an, dass der Verkauf von Möbeln und Beleuchtung nie 100 % nachhaltig sein kann, aber Umage strebt danach, ein Branchenführer in Sachen Nachhaltigkeit zu werden.
