WOUD Rombo Rug - Textural Geometry in Natural Fibres

The Rombo Rug by WOUD, designed by Studio MLR, brings together the quiet strength of jute and the soft warmth of wool. These two natural fibres are woven into a tactile surface that feels both grounded and inviting, creating a rich texture that reveals new details with every glance. Its name comes from the subtle rhombi shapes formed within the weave - a gentle nod to geometric clarity and Scandinavian restraint.

Framed by contrasting linear borders on each end, the rug balances intricate pattern with a clean, contemporary outline. The series is available in Brown, Grey, and Moss Green, each tone softly highlighting the woven structure and bringing a muted, natural palette into the living space.

Behind the design is Studio MLR, led by textile specialist Marie-Louise Rosholm. With more than three decades of experience in Milan and Copenhagen, her work reflects a deep understanding of material behaviour, colour harmony, and crafted detail. The Rombo series embodies her approach: functional, thoughtful, and quietly expressive.

As a Danish design company, Woud holds true to their vision of creating unique pieces. While they maintain the foundation of Nordic design, they consistently strive to elevate their work through innovative form, functionality, and material choices. According to Woud, timeless design has the power to evoke emotions, spark inspiration, and beautify homes by showcasing individual personality. Mia and Torben Koed, the founders of Woud, utilized their three decades of experience to embark on a new project. They felt a desire for change and a new challenge, which led them to build an ambitious design brand from the ground up. They emphasized using high-quality materials and paying close attention to the finer details. The WOUD collection was founded on the principle of innovation and pushing boundaries, rather than relying on nostalgia. The brand is passionate about exploring and developing new ideas in terms of form, function, and material choice, reflecting their love for authentic design.

Studio MLR

Studio MLR is a Danish multidisciplinary design studio specialising in textiles, colour and material-driven trends. Led by Marie-Louise Rosholm, the studio builds on more than thirty years of experience - first in Milan, now in Copenhagen - combining deep textile knowledge with a distinctly Scandinavian design language. Curiosity and method form the foundation of their work. By exploring patterns, structures and new material expressions, the studio creates solutions that balance aesthetics and function. This approach is evident in the Rombo and Double series for WOUD, where meticulous craftsmanship and a refined sense of colour bring quiet innovation to everyday interiors.
